ALABASTER – A local church and laundromat reach out to their neighbors with warm, fuzzy love. “Laundry Love” is an initiative of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Alabaster, which has partnered with Suds-R-Us to do people’s laundry for free.

Anyone can stop by Suds-R-Us in Alabaster on Wednesday January 19 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to do their laundry. All supplies, including detergent, drying linens and use of machines, will be provided free of charge.

Evangelism began in July and takes place quarterly, according to Father Eric Mancil, rector of the church.

“Anyone can come and do as much laundry as they want,” Mancil said, noting that the owners of the laundromat had contacted the church to begin the ministry. “They had done similar ministries in other areas. They contacted our church to see if we would be interested in partnering with them.

Everyone is welcome, not just church members or regular customers. Suds-R-Us is located at 503 First St. SW, Alabaster and can be reached at 205-664-2461.

For updates and other church events, check the church’s Facebook page or call 205-621-3418.
